Adding materials to the space like cushions, blankets and curtains helps add warmth and coziness. It creates a relaxing and inviting environment. Hanging materials on your walls is a bold and interesting move, but not everyone wants an enormous rug hanging from their ceiling. In this case treating textiles like prints and putting them in photo frames may be a perfect solution. The final outcome isn’t as dramatic and it gives you freedom to choose more than one design.

Embroidery gains lots of popularity as a new creative hobby. If you are a fan of this craft feel free to frame your work and put it on a display! 6. How to reuse a curtain rod

If you want to hang your rug, but you’re not sure how to attach it to the wall, look closer at this photo. Someone creatively used a rod and hanged their rug like they would hang a curtain. To add some more interest to the space they hung a print right next to it. This way you’re not destroying your walls and can move the art around whenever you want to. So simple but so genius.

Antique decorative mirrors, just like frames, add interest to the space. They can be an interesting focal point in other ways. They are perfect in dark rooms as they reflect the light and make the space brighter.

Wallpaper industry is completely different now than it was 20 years ago. Designs are no longer boring and they can even compete with paintings. No wonder people are framing wallpaper instead of buying overpriced piece of art. If you dream of having this type of wallpaper in your room but you’re afraid it may be to overwhelming to put it on all walls, choose a piece of wall where you want it to be and frame it. This way it will look more intent.

Here we have another example of a wallpaper framed like a painting but in more modern space. It shows perfectly that good quality wallpapers, just like art, fit everywhere.

This room is decorated in jungle style with lots of patterns, plants and natural materials. One would have thought that an antique gold mirror wouldn’t fit in here. This photo proves them wrong. Mirror looks here like it was meant for this space. Also it breaks the jungle theme adding more depth and interest to the room.

Here we have a classic gallery wall but much more interesting than if it was full of prints. We see here photos from the owner’s journeys mixed with popular prints and unusual frames. We even see some little skulls. This mix of everythings makes it look like it was curated over time and with much thought. It’s way more interesting than frames and prints bought on Etsy.

If you’re a fan of flea markets then you must have seen these plates already. People are getting rid of them because they remind them of grandmas’ style and they want something more modern. Luckily there are still people who appreciate the beauty of old items and can give them a second life.

Here we see a mix of plates in different sizes and styles. It creates a colorful mosaic and together with colorful tablecloth and appliances it creates a happy and inviting atmosphere.

13. Crochet napkins on the wall

Whose grandma used to crochet napkins and table runners? Crocheting is another creative hobby that’s making a come back and here we see one more use for all of these beautiful napkins. Hanged on the wall they introduce a boho vibe to the space and showcase a skill of a maker.

14. Textured art on the wall

Textured art is still trendy. It’s unusual and interesting in a space and the best thing is you can make it yourself! All you need is canvas and some plaster. You don’t even need to be talented in the arts. In this case the more organic the final result the better. So feel free to have some fun!

15. Modern macrame decor

Here we have another type of wall decor that you can make yourself and you don’t have to be gifted in arts. This macrame requires only some twine and planning. Within a day you can have an art piece that can’t be found in any store.

Decorating a home is not as easy as many people think. It takes time, effort and lots of research to create a space that is interesting and showcases owners interests. If you’re not a fan of boring white and gray spaces, feel free to experiment and try different types of decor until you find something that feels like home. After all the most beautiful houses are those where we can feel the love and enthusiasm of the owners.
